In Memory of Robin Burchett

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Robin Burchett’s passing. Robin was admitted to the hospital over Memorial Weekend. She passed away peacefully and without pain on July 9, 2026.
Robin was a huge contributor to the Northern California Irish Wolfhound Club as well as to the Irish Wolfhound community.  Among other positions throughout the years, Robin was the editor of the Bugle and former membership chair.  At the NCIWC Specialty, she ran the heart study for many years.  Robin and her husband Terry, were well known in the lure coursing circles, she was Field Trial Secretary for many years while Terry was the lure operator.
She bred and showed champion Irish Wolfhounds, and competed in obedience, as well as lure coursing.   The club and the wolfhound community will greatly miss her.  In addition to her dedication, she was a kind and loving person who was always willing to help and mentor new people.  She will be remembered for her bight smile and cheerful, warm attitude.
We find comfort imagining her reunited with her husband, Terry, and her beloved hounds.
A memorial service will be held later this summer.

In Memory of Linda Souza

IWAWC mourns the loss of Linda Souza who passed away of cancer. Linda loved the wolfhounds and a good dog show. She educated future judges on proper conformation. She was a generous person. We send our deepest condolences to her late husband, her daughter Jamie, and her grandkids.

In Memory of Cheryl Rice

IWAWC mourns the loss of a dear friend and long time member Cheryl Rice. The entire Association sends prayers to her family. Our Specialties will not be the same without her voice as our announcer.

Cheryl contributed to the club in so many other ways, leading our education, serving on the Board and as our President. Godspeed on your trip to the bridge.

Member Thank You

Your Board decided that with the cancellation of the Specialty for 2020 we will offer the members something special that is only for them.  We came up with the concept  to allow every membership type one free page in our 2020 Yearbook – title, memorial or light of my life.  We hope that all of you will enjoy showing off your hounds. Please send your page to Lori Walker. The details for submission are in the Winter Newsletter.

With the advent of the Covid-19 vaccine we hope we are closer to getting together sooner rather than later.
